PURPOSE:To shorten the period of construction as well as curtail the cost of construction work by controlling the thickness of an underground continuous wall by providing reinforcing ribs on the outside of an underground continuous wall forming a shift. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical underground continuous wall 1 is constructed in the ground G, and an upper floor slab 2 and a bottom slab 4 are horizontally set on the inside of the wall 1 and fixed to form a shaft H with an underground space 5. Reinforcing ribs.R extending vertically are fixed to the outside of the wall 1. Since the wall 1 can be used as the body wall of the shaft H without the needs for waling and shore struts during the construction period, and also without the needs for increasing the thickness of the wall 1, the period of construction can be shortened and the cost of construction can be curtailed.
