PURPOSE:To carry away fine particles of a sublimable dye which may otherwise contaminate a recording material and thereby maintain favorable image quality, by passing a gas flow across a flow of the vapor of the dye, at such a velocity as not to disturb the flow of the vapor of the dye. CONSTITUTION:The pressure inside a dye chamber 19 is raised by an air pump 27, and a flow 32 of air blown off from an air blow-off port 31 after passing through an air passage 30 is generated. Under this condition, a jet quantity controller 25 is operated by a signal from a picture signal source 26 to open predetermined nozzles 24, whereby flows 33 of the vapor of a sublimable dye are generated, and the flows 33 are not disturbed by the flow of air from the port 31. Therefore, the vapor 23 of the dye is adhered to the surface of a recording material 17 to form dots as picture elements. The vapor 23 of the dye, of fine particles of the sublimable dye previously formed through cooling, floating in the vicinity of the surface of the recording material 17 are carried away by the flow 32 of air from the port 31. Accordingly, the recording material 17 is not contaminated, and favorable image quality can be maintained. |
