PURPOSE:To record clear images while preventing recording speed from being lowered due to providing an index, by providing a member for controlling conditions for releasing an ink sheet from a recording material after heating the ink sheet, and providing the controlling member with an index member indicating a recording position. CONSTITUTION:A connecting lever 30 is provided with an index part 30a, whereby the next printing can be visually confirmed. The lever 30 is provided with an engaging part 30b at the rear end thereof, and when a switching lever 62 in a cassette 50 is engaged with the engaging part 30b, the lever 62 is pushed up in the direction of a platen 10. Thus, the connecting lever 30, which is disposed in proximity to a thermal head 25 and is associated with control of releasing conditions, is provided with the index part 30a. Therefore, when recording at a position indicated by the index part 30a, it is required only to move the head by a small distance to the position being indicated. Accordingly, a reduction in recording speed or troubles such as noise are not generated due to providing an index.
