PURPOSE:To improve production yield of a casting slab by determining a cutting length of the casting slab bottom based on measured values of a molten steel temp. and strong deoxidizing element, obtd. in the range of the molten steel from a tundish to a mold at the time till reaching to a steady casting state of the first heat. CONSTITUTION:The molten steel S is supplied into the tundish 3 from a ladle 1 through a long nozzle 2. At the time of opening a pouring hole 4, the temp. measurement of the molten steel is executed by a temp. measuring instrument 7 arranged at the tundish 3. Further, the molten steel sample is extracted by a sampler 8 for analysis. The casting slab bottom part, corresponding to the molten steel having <=20 deg.C over-heating degree of the molten steel and >=0.003% unsoluble A by the result of analysis is cut off. In this way, degrading ratio of the products is remarkably reduced and also the casting yield is improved.
