PURPOSE:To obtain the metal fine wire of high purity and high quality without any contamination of a foreign matter on the way of the production by making the coating of a similar metal with a vapor phase method on the surface of the metal core wire and by performing a plastic work until becoming into the fine wire of the prescribed size. CONSTITUTION:The similar metal to the core wire is coated by a vapor phase method prior to the plastic work on the surface of the metal core wire consisting of Cu, Al, Au, etc., respectively. The coating with the vapor phase method is preferably a sputtering method and chemical vapor deposition method, and the coating is of high purity metal with >=99.99% purity. The coated metal core wire is subjected to a plastic work until is becomes the fine wire in the prescribed size by the wire drawing using a drawing die. The plastic work is performed several times at the coating stage and plastic work stage alternately so that the degressive factor of the sectional area becomes in the range of about 15-90%. In this way the necessary metal fine wire of high purity and high quality is obtd.
