PURPOSE:To shorten the stroke of a lifter and to work products having a large depth by press working a product by making an engagement depth of a punch on plural stages set in series with a die smaller than a required depth of the product. CONSTITUTION:An engagement depth of a punch 32 on a stage A with a die 34 is equal to that of a punch 36 on a stage B with the die 38 and also equals to a depth S7 of every dies for working products. The above engagement depth is smaller than a required depth H of a product 30. The projecting length of the punch 36 on the stage B is a little larger than the depth of the final product 30b. The punches 32 and 36 are formed into a pad 12 of an upper die 10 and the dies 34 and 38 are set on the lower die 16. The engagement depth of punches with dies on the stage B is smaller than the depth of the final product 30b and a half-product 30a formed on the stage A is bent to obtain the required final product 30b.
