<p>PURPOSE:To recognize checkwriter characters by an optical character reader, by comparing the data sequence obtained through accessing a pattern memory successively, with the mask state selected by the number of the longest dots and filling the space part. CONSTITUTION:A video signal obtained by scanning checkwriter characters is sliced by the binary circuit 20 and is inputted to a pattern memory 40, and the output of the memory 40 is inputted to a projection image storage circuit 51. Next, the height of the projection image is detected by the height detecting circuit 52, and the value of a register of the circuit 51 is checked by the dot number counting circuit 53. After the operation of the circuit for one projection image is completed, the dividing circuit 55 is operated, and the selecting circuit 56 sets the output of the circuit 55 to registers 57-59. The comparing circuit 60 compares values of registers 57-59 to generate a direction code, and the direction selecting circuit 70 is operated. The circuit 70 outputs the direction code to the control part 10. Meanwhile, the value of the longest dots number storage circuit 62 is compared with the output of the circuit 53 and is updated to a larger value. The mask comparing circuit 80 compares the mask state selected by the output of the circuit 62, with data of the memory 40 to fill the space part.</p> |
