NEW MATERIAL:UCN-01 of formula having the following physical and chemical properties. Molecular formula, C28H26N4O4; melting point, 245-250 deg.C (decomposition); [alpha]D<22>=+132.0 deg. (C=0.3, methanol); solubility, soluble in methanol, chloroform and dimethyl sulfoxide, hardly soluble in water and hexane; etc. USE:Antitumor agent and bactericide. PREPARATION:A microbial strain belonging to Streptomyces genus and capable of producing UCN-01 [e.g. Streptomyces sp. UCN-01 (FERM BP-990)] is cultured at 28-30 deg.C and 6-8pH for 1-7 days preferably by submerged spinner culture method. |
