NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I [X is imino, O or formula II or III (R2 and R3 are methyl, ethyl or hydroxyethyl); 1-2 H atoms on the benzene ring A are substituted by methoxy, ethoxy, methyl for formula IV (R4 and R5 are methyl, ethyl, cyanoethyl, beta-chloroethyl or 3-4C alkoxyalkyl)]. EXAMPLE:A compound expressed by formula V. USE:A dye capable of dyeing hydrophobic fibers, e.g. polyester, fibers, triacetate fibers, polyamide fibers, etc., to bright greenish blue - blue color. PREPARATION:1,1,3-Tricyano-2-amino-1-propene is condensed with a benzaldehyde compound expressed by formula VI to give a compound expressed by formula VII. An alkali metal cyanide is then added thereto and the resultant adduct is oxidized and, as necessary, treated with a basic compound or further hydrolyzed.
