PURPOSE:To readily carry out discrimination of liberated abalone and natural abalone and judgment of a liberation period, etc., on hue of the shells, by feeding abalone with a compound feed obtained by blending red algae therefor or compound feed prepared by blending brown algae therefor for a specific period. CONSTITUTION:Abalone are fed with a compound feed obtained by blending red algae, e.g. ASAKUSA laver (Porphyra tenera Kjellman), etc., for the abalone or compound feed prepared by blending green algae, e.g. holey sea lettuce (Ulva pertusa Kjellman), etc., and/or blending brown algae, e.g WAKAME seaweed (Undaria pinnatifida Suringar), etc., for the abalone for a specific period or alternately fed with both of the compound feeds for a given period and raised. The hue of shells turns brown or dark brown by the compound feed blended with the red algae and bluish green or yellowish green by the compound feed blended with the green or brown algae. The alternate feeding of both above- mentioned compounds feeds provides a stripe pattern of brown and bluish green. |
