PURPOSE:To obtain the anvil for upsetting having a long service life and high production efficiency by fixing the plate like anvil member composed of a conductive 'Sialon(R)' whose electric resistance rate is <= the specified value to the anvil main body composed of a conductive structure material. CONSTITUTION:The plate like anvil member 1b composed of a conductive 'Sialon(R)' is strongly fixed via an adhesive to a joining face 1c by providing the joining face 1c at the end part of the cylindrical anvil main body 1a composed of a conductive structure material. This anvil member 1b is taken to be of <=1X10<-2>OMEGA.cm electric resistance rate and TiN or TiCN is included as a conductivity giving substance in the conductive 'Sialon(R)', if necessary. In this way the anvil for upsetting having a long life and very high production efficiency is obtd.
