The device is mounted on/or integrated with a vehicle (1) which is driven along the road, and at its front end, has catchment components (7) for the loosened road material lying in strips. A load unit (5) picks up the material strip from the road and transfers it to a higher level. A transporter (15) passes on the material to a unit (10) for further processing or to a transport space, and the speeds of the vehicle loading unit and the transporter can be varied independently of one another. The catchment components are adjustable to suit the width of the strip of material on the road surface. The load unit comprises an endless, drivable link chain on which a number of shovel blades (11) are fitted, and the further processing equipment consists of a sieve or a grinding mill. The catchment components are two counterposed blades, the distance between the free ends of which can be varied. The sieve has the facility to reject unwanted material back on to the road surface. |
