PURPOSE:To achieve a lower loss of a gyroscope, by integrating Y branch paths for branching a laser light into two, two 2 input/2 output switches connected thereto respectively and an optical coupler for connecting output terminals of the switches on the same substrate. CONSTITUTION:A substrate 4 is so arranged that optical switches S1 and S2 are provided in a parallel wave guide between Y branch paths (y) for branching in two a light emitted from a semiconductor laser LD and an optical coupler C and output wave guides 5 and 6 of the switches S1 and S2 are connected to detectors D1 and D2. Phase modulators M are arranged between both ends of an optical fiber loop F and the coupler C. To detect an angular velocity the gyro wave guide device F from the laser LD, circulated back therethrough F and then, light detection values of detectors D1 an D2 are compared changing the switch S1 and S2 and modulators M alternately. Thus, the integration of the branch paths (y), the switches S1 and S2, the coupler C and the modulators M on the substrate 4 can reduce the loss of an optical fiber gyroscope. |
