PURPOSE:To allow plural users to simultaneously handle spread sheet data and to prevent data that one user does not want to modify from being mistakenly modified by giving access attributes to rows and columns in each cell of the spread sheet data. CONSTITUTION:The access attribute of eight bits is given to each cell: first 0-3 bits for an owner's number, bits 4 and 5 for permitting an owner to read and write data, and bits 6 and 7 for permitting users apart from an owner to read and write. When a user request the use of a spread sheet, the access attribute is referred to blank a read failure cell and the spread sheet is displayed on a display 4. When a user wants to enter data in a cell, he specifies the cell corresponding to a cursor, and enters data in it. When cell data is inputted, a data input part 6 refers to the access attribute, etc. If it shows that writing is possible, the part 6 writes data in the cell concerned: otherwise, the part 6 displays an message showing the effect in the lower area of the display 4. |
