PURPOSE:To prevent the inversion noise from being generated in a state wherein the performance of a high-function magnetic tape is displayed by providing a means which alternatively selects a reproduction luminance FM signal or the output of a delay means according to the result of comparison between amplitude levels. CONSTITUTION:When the output signal of an amplitude comparator circuit 24 is at high level, a movable contact piece is connected to a fixed terminal 241 and when the signal is at low level, the contact piece is connected to a fixed terminal 242. Therefore, when the amplitude level of a lower side band wave SD is larger than the amplitude level of a carrier S0 and the inversion noise is generated, the output signal of a 1H (one horizontal scanning period) delay line 25 is supplied to a limiter circuit 13 instead of the reproduction luminance FM signal. Consequently, the inversion noise is prevented from being generated.
