PRODUCTION OF MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

PURPOSE:To obtain a good-quality magnetic recording medium by decreasing the thermal deformation of the medium at the time of curing an under coat layer by irradiation of UV rays. CONSTITUTION:The under coat layer 8 curable by UV rays is formed on a nonmagnetic substrate prior to the formation of a back coat layer 10 on the nonmagnetic substrate. The layer 8 is cured by the irradiation of UV rays. The thermal deformation of the nonmagnetic substrate by the irradiation of UV rays which is considerable in the case of using the nonmagnetic substrate formed with the conventional under coat layer is thereby decreased and since the irradiation quantity of the UV rays can be made larger than heretofore, the curing addition of the under coat layer 10 is improved.
