PURPOSE:To permit the cooling of a room provided with a wide area by a comparatively small-size air-conditioning machine by a method wherein blow-off ports are closed by switching dampers at all times but when the presence of a workman is detected in the supplying range of cool air from the blow-off port for a predetermined period of time or more, the blow-off ports are opened to supply the cool air to only the vicinity of the workman in accordance with the movement of the same. CONSTITUTION:Cool air, sent out of an air-conditioning machine 2, is distributed and supplied to respective branch ducts 4, 4... through a main duct 3 while blow-off ports 20, 20..., provided on respective branch ducts, are closed. When a workman approaches the vicinity of some blow-off port 20 under this condition and enters into the detecting angle C of a detector 22 corresponding to the blow-off port 20, the detector 22 impresses a detecting signal onto a controller 23. When the detecting signal is impressed from the detector 22 onto the controller continuously, the controller 23 operates a switching damper 21 to pivot it to an opened position after a predetermined time (t1) has elapsed whereby the cool air may be blown off from the blow-off port 20.
