PURPOSE:To prevent the enlargement of damage caused by the additive of lubricating oil in a filter to lengthen a filter life by passing the lubricating oil through the filter provided on bypass passages for the lubricating oil, when the level of oil pollution due to carbon particles in the said oil exceeds its fixed value. CONSTITUTION:Bypass passages 41a, 41b formed on an oil circulating route are provided with a filter (F), and its upper course is provided with an electromagnetic vale 43. An oil pan 31 is provided with an oil pollution sensor 37 to detect the level of oil pollution due to carbon particles in lubricating oil. A control means 30 receives a signal issued by the said sensor 37, and when the level of oil pollution reaches its fixed value, opens the electromagnetic vale 43 to begin passing the oil through the filter (F).
