The invention relates to a pair of wheels, in particular a running wheel for pairs of wheels of a travelling mechanism. By a novel configuration of the rolling surfaces 4, 6, 7, 8 of the wheels, the comfort of the passenger is improved; by decreasing impacts by the self-guidance of the wheels, the stresses on the wheel flanges 2, 3 and on the rails is likewise decreased, which makes it possible to obtain better performance in bends. The invention applies especially to sets of wheels for funiculars with a cable. <IMAGE>
