PURPOSE:To obtain a nylon powder excellent in flow, etc., by preventing the powder from being aggregated into lumps, by dissolving nylon 6 or 12 in a lower alcohol solvent containing an anhydrous chloride of an alkaline earth metal by heating and slowly cooling this solution. CONSTITUTION:Nylon 6 or 12 is dissolved in a lower alcohol solvent (e.g., methanol or ethanol) containing an anhydrous chloride of an alkaline earth metal (e.g., anhydrous calcium chloride or anhydrous magnesium chloride) by heating. This solution is slowly cooled with stirring at a rate of 3-20 deg.C/hr to obtain the purpose nylon powder. The anhydrous chloride of an alkaline earth metal is added to the lower alcohol in this way, so that the nylon particles deposited and precipitated during slow cooling can be stably dispersed in the solvent, are made nearly spherical and are prevented from being coagulated. The distribution of particle diameters can be easily controlled by the concentration of the anhydrous chloride, the rate of slow cooling, the degree of agitation, etc.
