PURPOSE:To surely separating a workpiece by use of only one actuator, by providing such an arrangement that when upstream workpieces which are successively fed, are pressed by a work retainer, the frontmost one of the workpieces is fed from an opened gate, and thereafter, the gate is closed while the press for the workpieces is released. CONSTITUTION:When an air cylinder initiates its operation, a gate 12 and a work retainer 16 advance so that the work retainer 16 abuts against a workpiece 20b, and therefore, the work retainer 16 comes to a stop. Thereafter, the workpiece 20b is retained by the work retainer 16 under the force of a spring 18. When a hole 12a in the gate 12 aligns with a work passage in a workpiece body 14, the workpieced abuts against the attaching part 12b of the gate 12, and therefore, the gate comes to a stop. Thus, the gate is opened. A workpiece 20a is fed into a downstream tube 11, passing through an opened gate part 15. Further, since the WORKPIECE 20b, 20c do not drop since the workpiece 20b is retained by the work retainer, and therefore, the workpiece 20a alone is separated. Then, the gate 12 is closed while the work retainer 16 releases the workpiece 20b, and therefore, the next workpiece is set.
