PURPOSE:To reduce deformation (bulging) of a film ribbon and contrive alleviation of contamination of a printing paper, by controlling an excitation time for a printing head of a printer according to the kind of an ink ribbon. CONSTITUTION:A controlling circuit comprises an excitation time controlling circuit (a) connected between a data register (e) and a driving circuit through AND circuits. The excitation time controlling circuit (a) comprises an OR circuit connected in parallel to one-shot circuits 1, 2. With an ink ribbon kind signal (c) ('0' or '1') inputted, a pulse for an excitation time T1 or T2 corresponding to the signal (c) is generated by the one-shot circuit 1 or 2, whereby each coil in a driving coil part (f) is excited. Accordingly, in using a film ribbon, bulging of the ribbon at a printing part is reduced, and contamination of a printing paper can be alleviated. |
