PURPOSE:To improve initial bond strength and adhesion after application in using the resulting compsn. as an adhesive for polyvinyl chloride flooring material and to prevent the surface of the flooring material from being discolored after application over a long period of time, by blending a conjugated diene rubber latex with a specified hydrocarbon resin. CONSTITUTION:This emulsion adhesive compsn. is obtd. by blending a conjugated diene rubber latex (A) with a hydrocarbon resin (B) as a tackifier. The resin (B) is one obtd. by heat-polymerizing a monomer mixture of 35-80wt% cyclopentadiene monomer, 5-30wt% polar vinyl compd. and 10-50wt% linear conjugated diene. Pref. 40-150pts.wt. said hydrocarbon resin is blended with 100pts.wt. (on a solid basis) conjugate diene rubber latex. Preferred examples of the polar vinyl compd. are vinyl acetate, ethyl acrylate and methyl methacrylate.
