PURPOSE:To collect smoke in a spongy material, by exposing an edible wheat- gluten bread or other spongy materials impregnated with animal or vegetable fats and oils to the smoke of imperfect combustion from wood. CONSTITUTION:An edible wheat-gluten bread or other nontoxic spongy materials, e.g., urethane foam, polystyrene foam, etc. are uniformly impregnated with animal or vegetable fats and oils, e.g., colza oil, sesame oil, lard, beef tallow, etc., to give a material impregnated with fats and oils, which is hung in a smoking chamber for wood and the smoke of wood is dissolved and held in the material impregnated with fats and oils to give a matter holding the smoke. Fats and oils are removed from the prepared matter holding the smoke, and in the case of the edible wheat-gluten bread impregnated with fats and oils, it may be dried and crushed. |
