<p>A sensor (11) in which the inner space (13) of a housing (10) is completely filled with gas (15) and with liquid (14). The gas (15) and the liquid (14) must not react chemically with one another or dissolve in one another, so that as sharp and precise an interface is created between the two media. When the housing (10) is diverted as a result of tilting or by a transverse acceleration, the reflective behaviour of an optical beam on the interface is modified. As a result, a control signal is generated which releases the passenger protection devices of a motor vehicle. With the aid of a single sensor both the position angle and transverse acceleration can be determined either individually or together.</p> |
