<p>α, α-Trehalose trimycolates represented by formula (I), wherein R1 to R8 each represents a hydrogen atom or a mycolic acid residue, with three of R1 to R8 being the mycolic acid residues, provided that the mycolic acid residues may be the same or different from each other. The α, α-trehalose trimycolates have immuno-activating and oncostatic activities on animals with low toxicity, and hence they are expected to be used for preventing infection by various microorganisms or as an oncostatic agent and for activating immunity upon the decline of bodily strength.</p> |
