PURPOSE:To prevent the boiling-over and scorching of the content of a cooker from occurring by a method wherein a sensing part, which is arranged at the central part of a cooking hotplate and contacts with the bottom of a cookpot, is provided so as to reduce the electric power when the temperature at the bottom of the cookpot reaches a specified temperature in order to heat the cookpot from that time on at another specified temperature, which is lower than the equilibrium temperature at boiling of the content. CONSTITUTION:A sensor part 12, in the interior of which a sensor 13 is arranged, is provided at the center of a cooking hotplate 11. When a power switch 17 is turned ON, the cooking hotplate 11 is brought into energized state so as to be raised in temperature in order to heat a cookpot 15. When the temperature of the sensor 13 reaches 95 deg.C, a control circuit 16 reduces the power consumption of the cooking hotplate 11. As a result, both the temperature of the sensor and the inner temperature of the cookpot 15 decrease in their rising speeds so as to bring them to their equilibrium states at boiling. Then, when the temperature of the sensor 13 comes also the equilibrium state, the control circuit keeps a temperature lower than that of the equilibrium temperature of the sensor by 2 deg.C so as to hold the mild boiling state to the end of cooking.
