<p>PURPOSE:To enhance reliability of an electric type power steering device by sensing the torque through the use of a strain gauge. CONSTITUTION:If a pinion shaft 6 and an input shaft 1 make relative rotation, a spiral groove 1a is rotated to displace a slider 17 axially through a ball 15 in accordance with the rotating direction of the input shaft 1. This displacement deflects a lever 20 retaining a ball 21, through the ball 21 which is in detention with a ring-shaped groove 17c in said slider 17, and thus an electric signal is generated on a strain gauge 22. This signal is processed by a controller 25 to put a motor 12 into operation to rotate the abovementioned pinion shaft 6 through gears 12a, 11b, 11a and 6a.</p> |
