PURPOSE:To simplify a retrieving work of information by displaying a reduced image signal corresponding to retrieval information together with this retrieval information. CONSTITUTION:Image information, retrieval information for retrieving the image information, and reduced image information which has reduced the image information by a reducing circuit 7 are stored in a storage device 9. In such a state, at the time of retrieval, when a retrieval condition and a retrieval executing instruction from a keyboard 1 are inputted, a CPU retrieves successively the retrieval information from the storage device 9. Also, the reduced image information corresponding to the retrieval information which coincides with the retrieval condition is read out of the storage device 9. Plural retrieval information and reduced image information which are read out in such a way are written in a prescribed area, and also, displayed on a CRT 2. In this way, a retrieving work of the information can be simplified.
