The invention relates to a device for determining changes in the mechanical variables during muscular contraction and for correlation with the changes in the electrical variables of nerves and muscles during muscular contraction. The body part to be examined and its joint is fastened on a sagittally rotatable stool which is mounted via shafts on a line lying horizontally with the axis of rotation of the joint. An electric coupling and an electric motor are controllably mounted on the shaft, and horizontal bending bars with strain gauges are fastened along the long sides of the electric motor. A potentiometer and a torsion gauge are arranged on the shaft. Electrodes are arranged above the contracting muscle or its nerve and/or a stethoscope head with downstream microphone is arranged above the muscle. Strain gauges, potentiometer, electrodes and stethoscope/microphone are connected to an electrical amplifier, and the latter is connected to a recording device. The muscle is stimulated via an electrical stimulating current stimulator and surface electrodes. For testing the muscular contraction of smaller joints and muscles (e.g. on the hand) there is proposed, as a further development, a rotatable frame of U-shaped connected components with common shafts which is fitted on the body part examined (e.g. thumb) with the shafts lying on a horizontal line with the joint shafts. On the axes there are ... Original abstract incomplete.
