Seat with a foam core (4) and a covering material (14), in which a substantial part of the side of the foam core (4) facing the seat surface (5) is covered with a layer (11) of (natural or synthetic rubberised hair which is permeable to air and water vapour, and in which grooves (9) and/or channels run from this side of the foam core (4), which extend to one or more of the remaining outer surfaces of the foam core (4), the grooves (9) and/or channels still permitting a transport of air and water vapour after compression of the foam core material which is used, characterized in that the layer (11) which is permeable to air and water vapour is constructed as a mat or sheet of rubberised hair inserted in a frame (6) extending along the sides running approximately normal to the seat surface, with the formation of a central depression (12), beyond the side of the foam core which faces the seat surface (5).
