PURPOSE:To provide an optical recording material having high writing sensitivity by a semiconductor laser beam, a high reflectivity and a good storing stability by providing a recording layer produced through vacuum deposition of tin halide phthalocyanine onto a substrate. CONSTITUTION:Preferably, an optical recording medium is composed of a compound where tin halide phthalocyanine is shown by a formula (I), and most preferably composed of a compound where A in said general formula (I) represents SnI2. Recording onto the recording material is performed by irradiating a laser beam focused to about 1mum diameter onto a recording layer or layers provided on one or two sides of a substrate, and the reproduction is performed by reading out the difference in reflectivity between a portions in the recording layer where said thermal deformation is occurring and not occurring. The light source includes He-Ne laser, Ar laser, semiconductor laser, and preferably a semiconductor laser is employed from the viewpoint of price and size. |
