In a fuel injection system with a swivellable air-flow sensor flap 4, which is arranged in an intake pipe section 3, an annular shoulder 13 is provided in the wall 12 of this intake pipe section, on which shoulder the air-flow sensor flap 4 comes to rest in the event of intake pipe blowbacks. In the event of intake pipe blowbacks, this prevents the flame from blowing back into the internal chamber 11 of the air filter housing 1 and igniting any ignitable fuel-air mixture present there, which has originated due to fuel escaping through transient leaks from the metering and distributor valve 9 along the control plunger 8 into the internal chamber 11. <IMAGE>
