The apparatus according to the invention is mounted on each spinning station of the spinning machine, especially of the ring-spinning machine, and brings the weft thread of a spun spinning cop into a position in which it can be located and picked up in the subsequent winding process by corresponding members of the winding machine. Since each spinning station is provided with the apparatus, there is no need for the conventionally employed cop-preparing apparatuses which are arranged on or in front of the winding machines and the number and processing capacity of which must correspond to the variable quantities of spinning cops to be fed. In contrast to the cop-preparing apparatuses employed conventionally, no additional space requirement occurs for the apparatus, since the apparatus is mounted within the space occupied by the spinning machine. The apparatus according to the invention is more cost-effective than the cop-preparing apparatus conventionally employed. <IMAGE>
