The invention relates to a residential unit which comprises prefabricated, large-format structural elements which can be rapidly installed on a building site by means of a mobile production means. Using only a small number of differing elements, residential units of this type are to achieve mass production, permit alterable ground-plan subdivisions, simplify, and thus render more cost-effective, basic structural work and finishing work. Using the same elements, it is to be possible to assemble various types of residential buildings by the modular-construction principle as single-storey or two-storey single-family houses or as multi-storey residential constructions. The accompanying drawing (Figure 1) shows isometrically one such residential unit with the truncated cones as foundations in the points of intersection of the square structural grid system, onto which points of intersection the steel bearing heads are precisely located. The square or, if twice the size, rectangular floor elements are mounted on these heads and secured by means of steel bolts. The wall elements which channel the loads of the building at the points of intersection of the grid downwards onto the foundations via ribs, configured as supports, with bearing plates then need only be placed onto the floor elements, provided with corner shoes, and bolted, without being precisely located. <IMAGE>
