PURPOSE:To attain the smooth and quick backup operation without causing the increase of hardware by using a buffer memory in a backup system. CONSTITUTION:The buffer memories 13 and 23 are provided to the 1st processing system 1 including a CPU 11 and a memory 12 and the 2nd processing system 2 including a CPU 21 and a memory 22 respectively. While an external memory device 4 can receive accesses from both systems 1 and 2 via a channel device 3. Therefore data can be quickly processed despite a fault of the primary system by reproducing the contents of the memories set before the fault is produced from the device 4 through the backup system. Furthermore both memories 13 and 14 just require such an amount of capacity approximately equal to that needed for process. Thus the increase of hardware can also be reduced.
