The invention relates to a rectangular frame for cable manhole covers, consisting of a metal casing, having a bearing surface for lids, and a concrete ring undetachably connected to the metal casing. The frame is aligned with the manhole neck by means of levelling screws during fitting. In frames which consist only of a metal casing or a casing with a concrete ring integrally formed on one side, large deflections of the overhanging frame parts occur. As a remedy it is proposed that the metal casing be widened with an apron in such a way that it encloses the concrete ring on at least two sides. It has been found that a frame of such design virtually no longer deflects.
