PURPOSE:To attain the use of a virtual cylinder number by providing an instruction register, a decoder and an access control circuit. CONSTITUTION:Such an instruction word that delivers a seek request is set to an instruction register 1 and then decoded by a decoder 2. The seek operation is carried out by a magnetic disk device 11 in case the requested cylinder number covers 0-99 and then by a magnetic disk device 12 when said cylinder number covers 100-199 respectively. In such a way, an access is given to the device 11 or 12 in accordance with the virtual cylinder number.
