NEW MATERIAL:(3S,4S)-cis-3-Amino-4-carbamoyloxymethyl-2-azetidinone-1- sulfonic acid expressed by formula I (R<1> represents H or lower alkyl; R<2> represents H or ester residue), a salt or ester thereof. USE:An antimicrobial agent against Gram-negative bacteria, germicide for preservation of feed against decay, bactericide used on a medical or dental apparatus and industrial germicide used in white water in a paper mill, etc. PREPARATION:Sodium ( 3S, 4S )-cis-3-benzoyloxycarboxamide-4-carbamonyloxy methyl-2-azetidinone-1-sulfonate is catalytically reduced to obtain a compound expressed by formula I or a compound expressed by formula I (R<3> represents amino-protecting group) or salt thereof is sulfonated and then the protecting group and, if necessary, ester residue are eliminated to obtain the compound expressed by formula I. |
