FIBER-REINFORCED THERMOSETTING MOLDING MATERIAL

PURPOSE:A molding material, obtained by kneading a polymerizable syrup prepared from a specific monomer with an inorganic filler, thickening agent and curing agent, and impregnating reinforcing fibers with the resultant curable composition and capable of giving beautiful molded articles having improved heat resistance, particularly hot water resistance as well as good operability. CONSTITUTION:A molding material obtained by impregnating (E) reinforcing fibers with a curable composition prepared by kneading (A) 100pts.wt. polymerizable syrup obtained by dissolving 5-50pts.wt. thickening thermoplastic polymer in 5-50pts.wt. monomer mixture solution consisting essentially of an aliphatic polyfunctional (meth)acrylate and an aromatic vinyl compound with (B) 200-800pts.wt. inorganic filler having <=5mu average particle diameter, (C) 0.1-10pts.wt. thickening agent and (D) a curing agent. A polymer having >=2 carboxyl groups in the molecule is used as the polymer of the component (A) and a metal (hydr)oxide or polyfunctional isocyanate compound is used as the component (C).
