PURPOSE:To increase a range of 100% charging efficiency and secure a long service life for the electrode in the caption, by using, as a hydrogen absorbing alloy electrode, a hydrogen absorbing alloy containing at least one metal element among Pt, Pd, Ag, Au, Rh, and Ru as a part of its composition. CONSTITUTION:A hydrogen absorbing alloy 1 serving as a negative pole is opposed to a positive pole 3 via a separator 2 and connected to the outside through respective terminals 4 and 5. These negative pole 1, separator 2 and positive pole 3 are fixed together by means of a holder 6 to be formed in an integrated electrode-couple. This electrode-couple is installed in electrolytic liquid 7 inside a container 8. The electrode capacity and the service life of a hydrogen absorbing alloy electrode are measured by means of this battery. A serve life test is carried out by firstly assigning charge/discharge current hour per one gram of alloy to a prescribed mAh, measuring the amount of charged electricity after respective periods of time, finding out variation in its discharge capacity upon condition of defining the end of discharge at the time when the battery voltage reaches, for instance, 1.0V. Then, the service life can be extended and the upper limit value for indicating 100% charging efficiency can be increased when, for instance, Pd is contained. |
