PURPOSE:To obtain the desired quantity of distortion at all times by overlapping voltage corresponding to the difference of the quantity of distortion and the standard quantity of distortion to voltage applied to an electrostrictive element. CONSTITUTION:One end of an electrostrictive element 1 having bimorph structure is fixed, and a power circuit 2 is connected at the fixed end. When voltage V is applied from the power circuit 2, the free end of the electrostrictive element 1 is distorted, and the quantity of the free end distorted rho is determined in response to applied voltage V. An origin switch operated at a time when the quantity of distortion of the electrostrictive element 1 reaches the constant reference quantity of distortion rho1 is fitted at that time, voltage previously applied to the electrostrictive element 1 at a time when the origin switch is worked is used as reference voltage V1, and addition voltage eV is overlapped to the reference voltage V1 and applied. Accordingly, the electrostrictive element 1 is further distorted only by the quantity of added distortion amount erho, thus acquiring the constant desired quantity of distortion rho2.
