PURPOSE:To make it possible to display an average value, max. value and min. value by one display device, in a display device wherein dot display elements are arranged in a matrix state, by putting out the dot display element corresponding to the average value of input data and lighting and element corresponding to each value between the max. and min. values of the input data and putting out the element corresponding to the present value. CONSTITUTION:When the power source of an electronic thermometer is closed, a control part 7 sets the present section value X to a value '0' and puts out all of the dot display elements corresponding to the section value X among the dot display elements of a graphic display device 10. Next, the control part 7 starts a timer to take in the measured data outputted by an A/D converter part 6 and stores said data T in a memory 9 as the max. value TMAX and the min. value TMIN. Subsequently, the control part 7 takes in measured data from the A/D converter part 6 to compare the value thereof not only with the max. value TMAX but also the min. value TMIN stored in the memory 9 and lights the display elements present between TMAX and TMIN among the display elements on the section value X of the display device 10 corresponding to the magnitude thereof and turns ones corresponding to the present value T ON and OFF.
