PURPOSE:To shorten the detection time by eliminating duplicate scanning of every detection pattern information to obtain result outputs simultaneously. CONSTITUTION:With respect to picture data taken in accordance with a composite scan table 5, it is discriminated whether taken-in address data is included in either of detection pattern tables 61 and 62 or not by parallel processings for respective detection pattern tables. If the scanned address exists as address data in the detection pattern side, information of the corresponding address of taken-in picture data is compared and collated with that of the detection pattern to obtain the result output. But otherwise, the data processing is omitted. Thus, picture data is taken in successively in accordance with the scan address of the composite scan table 5 and is scanned, and said discrimination is performed for each detection pattern each time when it is scanned.
