PURPOSE:To facilitate the setting of the measuring origin at the time of mastering, at the time of a measuring mode for determining the origin when an inner diameter or the like is measured, by displaying the output of a displacement detection circuit up to the min. figure when said output is within a predetermined range and displaying the same by a step ten times the min. figure when out of the range. CONSTITUTION:The displacement of a movable lever having a measuring probe threaded therewith in a freely movable manner is detected by the displacement sensor 20 and displacement detection circuit 40 of a grasping part 3 to be displaced on a display head 5. When a measuring mode for determining the origin measuring the inner diameter of a pipe coming to a primary standard is indicated through an input switch 56, CPU 50 judges whether displacement detection output is within a predetermined range. When said detection output is within the range, it is displayed on a display device 54 as it is and, when out of the range, said output is displayed by a step ten times the min. figure. By these displays, the position of a mechanical zero point is easily estimated and the setting of the measuring origin at the mastering is performed easily and certainly.
