PURPOSE:To produce the titled laver screen having excellent peelability and long effective life and suitable for the production of high-quality laver sheet, by knitting screen reeds with blended twist yarn produced by twisting plural blended yarns obtained by blending and twisting cotton fiber and synthetic fiber. CONSTITUTION:20-80wt% cotton fiber and 80-20wt% synthetic fiber (e.g. polyester fiber) are blended and twisted to obtain a blended yarn. A plurality of the blended yarns are twisted to form a blended twist yarn having a fineness of 1,700-2,500 denier. The obtained twist yarn is used as a knitting yarn 3 to knit screen reeds 2. Both ends of the screen are reinforced with end bars 4 having larger cross-section than the screen reed 2 to obtain the main body 1 of laver screen. The screen reed 2 is a thin tube or thin rod having circular, elliptical or polygonal cross-section, etc., and produced by extrusion-molding a relatively rigid thermoplastic resin such as PP, PS, etc., with an extruder and treating the surface with spark, flame or a treating agent. |
