PURPOSE:To contrive improvement in the saturated magnetization Bs of the titled permanent magnet as well as to facilitate molding processing of the magnet by a method wherein the fused alloy of specific composition, containing a rare-earth metal and a transition metal, is formed into powder using a gas atmizing method, the powder is cooled quickly, and a hot hydrostatic compression molding operation is performed. CONSTITUTION:The fused alloy of composition specified by the formula R(T1-yMy)z is quickly cooled at the speed of 10<3> deg.C/sec. or above using a gas atmizing method. The obtained powder is formed into the fine powder of 2-20mum by performing a mechanical pulverization such as a ball mill and the like, and it is compression-molded in a magnetic field. Then, the molded article is vacuum-sealed in the metal container made of stainless steel and the like, and a hot hydrostatic compression molding operation is performed in the region of the temperature of 600-900 deg.C with the pressure of 50kg/cm<2>. The R in the above-mentioned formula indicate the combination of a kind or two or more kinds of rare-earth metal containing Y, T indicates the combination of Fe or Fe and other transition metal, and M indicates the combination of a kind or two or more kinds of B, Si, P and C as in 0.02<=y<=0.15 and 4<=z<=9. |
