摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To rewrite a screen in one frame and to realize high-speed operation by employing matrix type electrode constitution for an electrooptic device which writes two black and white optical states by utilizing the spontaneous polarization and negative dielectric anisotropy of ferroelectric liquid crystal molecules, and writing black in the former half of a selection period and white in the latter half when line sequential driving is performed. CONSTITUTION:A signal FLM which specifies the selection period and common shift pulses CL1 for distributing the FLM to respective common electrodes in line sequence are inputted. The output of a shift register 11 is connected to a gate group 12, which inputs DF1 and DF2 and controls transmission gates 13 and 14 with its output. When the output of the shift register 11 is high, the gate group 12 receives the DF1 to turn on the transmission gate 13 in the former half and the transmission gate 14 in the latter half, and then a common C1 outputs a common selection signal; when the output is low, the gate group 12 receives the DF2 and outputs AC pulses which vibrate between V1 and -V1 synchronizing with the DF2 to common C2. This is a common nonselection signal.</p>
