PURPOSE:To stabilize the operation and to improve the quality of a steel sheet by forming side dams composing of fixed dams and shift type dams arranged at the lower part of the fixed dams and composed of endless metallic belts, etc., shifting toward casting direction. CONSTITUTION:A pouring basin 3 is formed by the fixed side dams 2a, 2b on the circumferential faces R of one pair of internal cooling rolls 1a, 1b, and the position of the lower edges of the dams 2a, 2b are positioned at upper part than the narrowest part of both the rolls. Next, the endless metallic belts 5a, 5b are arranged as the side dams allotting the lower side of the dams 2a, 2b. By this construction, as the contact between the dams 2a, 2b and the edge part of the steel sheet is out and also the solidified shell is not developed so big at the shifting dams 5a, 5b, which are brought into contact with the molten steel at small area, occurrence of the breakout, etc., is prevented. Therefore, the operation is stabilized and at the same time, the quality of the steel sheet is improved. |
