PURPOSE:To search the initial end or the terminal of the first melody in a recording disk by a simple operation, by inhibiting the output of read information only when it is detected that there is no jump-out to the outside of the prescribed area of an information detecting point, and also, sending it at high speed. CONSTITUTION:The processor of a controller 12 inputs the stage contents of a RAM 25 for storing a fact that an information detecting point has jumped out to the outside of a prescribed area. On the other hand, when it is detected that the information detecting point has not jumped out to the outside of the prescribed area, a reproducing sound output inhibiting command is generated in response to a manual search operating command generating in the course of a pause mode, and sent at high speed. When it is detected that the information detecting point has jumped out to the outside of the prescribed area, the output inhibiting command is not generated but sent at low speed. Also, an inhibiting means 24 inhibits the output of read information by the output inhibiting command. It is way, the initial end or the terminal of the first melody of a recording disk can be searched by a simple operation.
